Building System features:
COLUMNS
Our solid, pressure
treated columns have a Limited Lifetime warranty against
rot and decay. Kirkham Building System's laminated
columns provide durable support above ground and most importantly,
a full, complete transfer of loads to the foundation system
on our largest buildings. Endwall columns are always
full length from roof to foundation. In accordance with
the American Wood Preservers Bureau specification for timbers
in contact with the ground, a .6 lb. per cubic foot net
retention of preservative salt is pressure applied by certified
applicators.
FOUNDATION
The Kirkham Foundation is buried four feet deep and is solidly
anchored in concrete with a reinforcing steel rod. Years
of experience and industry research have proven the reliability
of the concrete anchored foundation system which provides
solid load bearing support and secure anchorage against
wind uplift and frost heaving. All footings are designed
to carry the required loads.
TRUSSES
The design loads for Kirkham Building System's trusses are
computer engineered, certified, and factory built using
selected timber based on the required live and dead loads.
TRUSS
CONNECTION
The Truss to Column connection in any building is a critical
component of strength and durability. A Kirkham Building
has the top portion of the columns notched to form a pocket
to accept the truss heel. The bottom chord of the truss
bears directly on the core of the wall column where it is
securely fastened. All trusses except at large openings,
are connected directly to the column. This sound and proven
method eliminates the need for the knee braces and provides
the structural capacity that is key to a strong building.
ROOFING
AND SIDING
Our steel sided buildings and roofing use 29 gauge, 80,000
PSI tensile strength, Kynar 500/Hylar 5000 finish in fifteen
standard colors. The high tensile performance adds superior
lateral stability to a Kirkham Building by uniformly distributing
both wind and snow loads. All colors are backed by a 40
year warranty.
Optional
Sidings include Texture 1-11 plywood, Vinyl, Aluminum, and
Cedar, Hardie Panel and Hardie Plank.
Other
roofing materials available include Galvalume coated steel,
and a variety of shingle roofing products. KBSI recommends
a shingle roof in most applications. |
