The New Albany Parks & Recreation Dept. have a new
place to call home. After months of careful planning and
designing, the final details were approved and the bidding
process moved forward. Kirkham Building System, Inc. of
Delaware, Ohio was awarded the contract.
The post frame building includes office space for Dave
Wharton, Director of Parks & Recreation, and his staff,
workshop area for the Bevelhymer Park maintenance equipment
and supplies, and storage area for local athletic department
storage. The nearly 4,000 sq. ft. facility is highlighted
by its’ front entry porch with large, natural wood
post and decorative bracing, a long lasting standing seam
steel roof with a unique flying gable detail, and a bright
white maintenance free exterior steel siding. The inside
has a feeling of openness without sacrificing efficiency.
The offices are large and open areas with many exterior
windows viewing to most of the park areas, high 10’
ceilings add to the grandeur. The workshop and storage area
are finished inside with a durable steel liner panel and
well insulated to keep the hard workers warm in the wintertime.
Dave Wharton, who worked directly with project manager,
Don Kirkham, was pleased with the results; “Kirkham

Parks and Recreation Dept. oversees the maintenance of parks
in the Village of New Albany.
